What is the main hindrance in using natural gas as fuel for our cars?
T Boone Pickens is promoting the use of natural gas instead of gasoline as our main fuel source. In North America, there is plenty of natural gas to go around for several years. What technical challenge is there in cars that operate on natural gas? What kind of performance should we expect?

When Pickens went on the Daily Show, he actually recommended that we use electric based hybrid cars like the GM Volt. He suggested that we switch large giantic vehicles like trucks from diesel into natural gas. This is because it's very hard to design battery powered semitrucks.
