Power is transmitted between interconnections either by High Voltage DC or by a Variable Frequency Transformer. This is because each interconnection has a syncronous 60Hz. If you travel to another interconnection, that 60Hz is asyncronous with each other. Special power methods are needed in order to preven loss of power quality between the interconnections.
